ABOUT

Parasitize is inspired by the film Memories of Matsuko(2006). It tells the story of a woman longings to be loved and loves others with no restrains. The woman’s life is dependent on others and lives for attention. This makes me to think of the word: parasitism.

Then it relates me to Evelyn, a pair of conjoined twins. They share two brains, three lungs, a singled conjoined arm, and three legs. They have something in common that the woman and the twins have to share the inseparable quality for mental or physical reasons. No matter the cause derives from the mental connection or physical joints, they all eventually become one inseparable and coexisting unit.

PART 1 Eyes

The eyes are inspired by Memories of Matsuko(2006), representing self-identification.

Passive: The sunflower is a metaphor of eyesight following a single focus point. It represents a group of people who pay the utmost attention to others, while craving for attention on themselves.Their eyes are parasitized on the ones they are attracted to, but their mouths are missing. So, they can only follow, but unable to express themselves. In their lives, they are not the protagonists.I use a female character to state this example. She devotes all her love to others because she's longing to be loved. But she will never be complete unless she loves herself and approves of herself.

PART2 Chest Cavity: love

Passive: The chest cavity represents the outer-shell of a human, because it is the most important part of the body. This chest cavity represents people will self-corrode after they are being emotionally parasitized. The lchneumonidae are beautiful parasite-bees,but they are deadly killers of some small animals. They represent a beautiful love that has the potential to fatal damages.

Active: After corrosion, the chest cavity will be organ-less and empty. However, the man still needs love to fulfill it.So,cockr- oaches are used to fill his organs. This is a representation that people keep looking for other formats of inner sustenance after they have lost their love.

PART3 Ears

Ones that parasites on word scrave for praises.

Inspiration:zombie ants.

Morel is a healthy fungus full of nutrition.

Parasitism shouldn't be a human behavior to start with. The words themselves are neutral, because when parasitizing in praises, one become a slave of the praises.Even though one parasitizes in praises, at the same time, one is also the host of those people.People are manipulated by words.

PART4 Teeth

Passive:The parasitized mouth is a mouth controlled by other people. The yesmen represents the ones that pass messages for other people in social or business environment

Active:teeth are the toughest part of the human body. The oral cavity is the feeding organ and also the expr-ession organ of the human body. Parasitizing on the oral cavity represents one's opinion and remarks, and it is used to manipulate others. This is also a metaphor for gluttony.

The Giant Taro: poisonous fruit.

PART5 Hands

Materialistic parasitism represents the ones that are de pendent on other's materialistic charity. Also, a metaphor for greed. The hand is a symbol of labor, also for "to demand".

The pomegranate represents many offspring and posterity. It represents the"insects"of society, the ones that take nu- trients from other people's hard work, taking free lunches. The hand filled with pomegranates represents the hard- working people who are being exploited. However, the hand itself also represents taking and demanding.

PART6 Brain &Head

Opinion-less, a nose of Wax.

The ones that share one brain, have no opinions and live for other people's opinions.

Twin Flowers :A unity with hearts at different places, harmony on the surface, but uneasy deep inside.Their bodies are connected.
