This is a series of illustrations that focus on the values of different social groups, gender groups or age groups.The inspiration comes from the media I like to browse, which often broadcasts news about conflicts of values.I draw four different pictures of the conflict of f values from four aspects, which are “clothing”,“food”,“housing"and"trans-portation”. The works mean to call on people to think from each other’s perspectives when enco ountering conflicts of values in order to reach a reconciliation.In this project, I drew pictures by digital media and used some dark retro colors with a few bright colors tob better highlight the protagonists, expressing the conflicts and creating a conflict atm-osphere. It is also easier for the viewer to understand the meaning of these illustrations. Through this project,I mainly want to study how to express the social problems by more realistic painting style.At the same time,I also want to train myself to express my vievews by my illustrations in a simple and reasonably detailed way
Clothing
This painting discusses the conflict of values on clothing among different social groups.It can be seen from the picture that the woman in the center is dressed in fashionable clothes and shows some bare skin, while the people around her are
dressed conservatively.In the meantime, they are talking about and pointing at the woman.
Transportation
The painting discusses driving conflicts among different gender groups.In the picture,the male driver is swearing the women driver in front of him who is obviously driving without any mistakes.It is just because he has prejudice against female drivers which means he thinks women drivers cannot drive well and often drive slowly and carefully.Therefore,he can’t satisfy his desire to drive fast.It is totally correct that the woman driver drive safely owing to the road ahead is very dangerous.Hence,the female driver feels very puzzled when she looks back at the male driver’s face.
Food
The painting discusses the conflict on leftovers between two different age groups.In the picture, the mother is preventing her daughter from emptying the leftovers into the garbage can,while the daughter is very speechless.
Housing
This painting discusses some conflicts about the living habits of the residence among different age groups.In the picture, the daughter took her father from the countryside to live in the city.When she comes back from a business trip, she finds that her father still does not suit to live in the city.Her father also regards city apartment as a farm, raising chickens and planting eggplants, which makes her home in a mess and make her truly distressed.
